Lone Star Film Festival opens for submissions

Filmmakers hoping to get screen time at the 2016 Lone Star Film Festival can now begin submitting their films.

The festival opened for submissions Wednesday and will continue accepting films until Aug. 31. Filmmakers will be notified Sept. 21 if their film was accepted.

Films can be submitted via FilmFreeway, an online film submission service. The Lone Star Film Festival is accepting films in five categories: narrative feature film, documentary feature film, narrative short film, documentary short film and student short film. Films will be considered for awards that come with cash prizes ranging from $500-$1,500.

The Lone Star Film Festival will take place in Sundance Square on Nov. 3-6.
