New executive director named for Texas Ballet Theater

Texas Ballet Theater (TBT) has a new executive director.

Vanessa Logan has been chosen to lead the resident ballet company of Bass Performance Hall, TBT Board of Governors chairman Anne T. Bass announced Tuesday.

“Vanessa has demonstrated superb abilities in arts management, most significantly in ballet organizations,” Bass said. “The TBT search committee recognized that her knowledge and experience make her uniquely qualified for this position, and we look forward to her leadership as we take TBT to the next level.”

Logan will be replacing Terri Sexton, who has been serving as interim managing director at TBT. Logan previously served as executive director of the classical and contemporary ballet company at New Jersey’s American Repertory Ballet.

Logan’s first day of work is Sept. 6, just before the 2016-2017 season begins. The season will open Sept. 16 with “Carmen” and “Danse Á Grande Vitesse,” which will both be performed at the Winspear Opera House in Dallas. The show will come to Bass Hall on Oct. 7-9.

“Her knowledge and passion for the art are evident,” TBT artistic director Ben Stevenson said. “And she will certainly be an asset not only to TBT, but to the entire community.”
