Each September Historic Fort Worth, Inc. produces a month-long event called Preservation is the Art of the City.

This is the event’s 15th year, and the art show/sale includes almost 60 area artists.

According to the website, it isn’t unusual for thousands of people visit the show throughout the month.

This year’s event will be held from Sept. 7-23 at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, with the art show/sale beginning Sept. 8 and running through Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

The events during this year’s Presentation is the Art of the City include:

— Presentations & Awards Thursday Sept. 7 at 6:30 p.m.

— Party with the Artists Thursday Sept. 7 from 6:30-9 p.m.

— Art Show & Sale Sept.8-23 during FWCAC business hours

— and the Cantey Lecture & Preservation Awards Thursday Sept. 21 from 6:30-8 p.m.

Studio artists who participate in this show receive 65 percent of the sales price of their sold artworks in addition to having the option to enter their works into a special section of the event called Stories of the City.

The 2017 Honorary Chairman is Michael J. Bennett and the Featured Artist is Val Hunnicutt.

The Cantey Lecturer is Beth Wiedower.
