September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. In honor of the month, Heroes for Children and Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer have partnered to host the Heart of Gold 5K: Run for the Children presented by Tom Thumb on Saturday, Sept. 16, at Richardson’s Plaza at Galatyn Park.
As it does every year, a commemorative balloon release sponsored by 4Change Energy will start the event. The balloon release celebrates the families served throughout the year and honors the memory of Taylor Brewton and Allie Scott who both passed away from Leukemia.
The Fun Run & 5K will follow the balloon release. Registration is required to participate in the event and ranges from $0-$30 depending on the levels as seen below:
— $30 — Adult (Individuals, Joining a Team, or Starting a Team).
— $30 — Virtual Hero Registration for individuals who are out of town, have to work, or would simply prefer to sleep-in. Registrations include a t-shirt.
— $25 — Camp Gladiator – This registration link is for anyone joining the Camp Gladiator Team and has the team discount code.
— $15 — Child 12 years old and younger. Registrations include t-shirt and timing.
— Free — RFTC Patient Family Registration – Register here for the 5K or 1K Fun Run for patients and families who have received assistance from Heroes for Children and Wipe Out Kids Cancer.
— Free — Registration for Joining a Corporate/Sponsor Team with A Discount Code.
— Free — RFTC Run for Free! Registration – Raise a minimum of $150 through your personal fundraising campaign and pay NO race fee!
Event entertainment will include a DJ and an Adventure Zone with games, activities, bounce houses, and a special remembrance area. The Heart of Gold 5K & Fun Run will also include prizes, awards, giveaways and food. For more information, please visit the link above.
