Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. hosts 8th-annual Oktoberfest 5K Sept. 30 to benefit Brotherhood For The Fallen

O’zapft is! This is the cry of happy ale drinkers at the start of the Munich Oktoberfest which means, “The Keg is Tapped!” Join Fort Worth’s Oktoberfest at Rahr & Sons Brewing Company on Saturday, Sept. 30. Dirndls and lederhosen will be in full force at this traditional German celebration, so don’t forget yours. This Fort Worth Oktoberfest event includes contests like stein hoisting, costume contest, beer belly division, German polka, and Biergarten.

As part of their Oktoberfest celebration, Rahr & Sons 8th-annual Oktoberfest 5K Run/Walk will take place on Sept. 30 to raise money for the Brotherhood For The Fallen, a nonprofit that supports the families of police officers killed in the line of duty. The 5K will take place at Rahr & Sons Brewing Co., located at 701 Galveston Ave. in Fort Worth. It is $50 to register and registration can be done online at rahroktoberfest5K.com.

The Oktoberfest 5K has raised $69,250 for local nonprofits since it began.

Racers will receive a dry-fit t-shirt, an on-course TX Whiskey shot and a finisher medal, in addition to enjoying live entertainment in a festive “biergarten” featuring Rahr & Sons craft beer samples and German-inspired snacks, following the race.

Race-day schedule is as follows:

—7:30 a.m.: Packet pick up and race day registration

—9 a.m.: Rahr & Sons Oktoberfest 5K

—10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: Post-race biergarten celebration with stein-hoisting competition
