Rangers in playoffs! Well, their chef is anyway

Just in time for the World Series, Cristobal Vazquez, executive chef at Globe Life Park for the Texas Rangers, will take a swing at competing with other chefs on the Food Network series, Chopped. Vazquez is one of four Delaware North Companies Sportservice chefs at Major League Baseball teams competing in an episode titled, “Big Hitters,” that will aire at 7 p.m. CST on Wednesday, Oct. 8 on the Food Network. . Cristobal Vazquez, the executive chef at Globe Life Park for the Texas Rangers, will sharpen his knives and take on other ballpark culinary artists in the popular Food Network series, Chopped.

Hosted by Ted Allen, each round includes a basket of ingredients that have a connection to baseball. In the first basket, the competing chefs find some typical game-day eats, including Italian sausage. Then in the second round, the chefs go to bat with flank steak. In the dessert round, the judges (Scott Conant, Marc Murphy and Amanda Freitag) receive the chef’s final pitch with a dessert centered around blueberries. The other competitors include two from teams that made the playoffs: Josh Distenfeld – Delaware North Executive Chef at Oriole Park at Camden Yards for the Baltimore Orioles Jessica Helms- Delaware North Executive Chef at Busch Stadium for the St. Louis Cardinals James Majors – Delaware North Executive Chef at Great American Ball Park for the Cincinnati Reds
