Rio Festival coming to River District in October

Fort Worth is getting another festival. Fort Worth’s Encore Live, a full-service event production agency, is producing the first-ever Rio Festival on Saturday, Oct. 14 at the Fort Worth River District.

According to a news release, the festival celebrates Fort Worth’s revitalizing growth into the River District and will feature live music, food trucks, craft beer and cider, arts and crafts, a pumpkin patch, hay rides and other activities.

“We are thrilled to produce the inaugural Rio Festival celebrating Fort Worth’s wonderful culture and growth into the River District,” said Walter Kinzie, CEO of Encore Live. “This is a fun event for the whole family complete with Fort Worth’s talented artists, food vendors, musicians and store owners.”

Admission is free for children 12 and younger. Pre-purchased tickets are available for $10, and tickets at the door will be $15.

A portion of Rio Festival ticket sales will be donated to the Greater Houston Community Foundation’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.

The current musical lineup includes: Peter More, Chris Watson, Zac Wilkerson & the Wayward Souls, Daniel Rocha and Isabella Breedlove.

Entrance gates are located at the west fork of the Trinity River. Gates open at 5 p.m. and live music begins at 6:30 p.m. Leashed dogs, lawn chairs and blankets are permitted.
