Grand Funk Railroad, American rock group of the 70s, will be playing live at Billy Bob’s Texas on Saturday, Aug. 5. Doors open at 6 p.m. and tickets range from $16 to $26.

According to the Billy Bob’s website, the band originated in Flint, Michigan in 1969, and is known as “The American Band.”

The current makeup of the group includes Grand Funk founding members Don Brewer and bassist Mel Schacher, “The God Of Thunder”. Additional members include Singer Max Carl, a rock veteran from 38 Special; lead guitarist Bruce Kulick, best known for his 12 years with KISS; and keyboardist Tim Cashion, who has worked with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band.

According to the website, to date, Grand Funk has had 19 charted singles, eight Top 40 hits and two Number One singles. Additionally, they have 13 gold and 10 platinum records.
