The Texas Society of Architects is honoring three from Fort Worth with its 2014 Honor Award.

Receiving awards at the organization’s 75th Annual Convention and Design Expo in November in Houston will be Don Gatzke, dean of the University of Texas at Arlington’s school of architecture; Bob R. Simpson, former CEO at XTO Energy and currently head of MorningStar Partners and co-owner of the Texas Rangers; and Gaile Robinson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The three will also be featured in the November/December 2014 issue of Texas Architect magazine. From the organization’s website: • Don Gatzke, AIA

Donald Gatzke’s leadership as dean of the school of architecture at UT Arlington has established a framework for exemplary education that models the importance of integrating practice, community service, and academic excellence. Don has been a great leader, educator, mentor, and friend, not only to his students and staff at UTA, but also to the professional members of the AIA Fort Worth chapter and TxA. • Bob R. Simpson

Through historic preservation, Bob Simpson has transformed downtown Fort Worth. His vision, energy, and love of detail have earned him a Restore America Hero Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Cornerstone Award from the Texas Society of Architects. For his dedication to built heritage, the Texas Society of Architects is proud to recognize him as an honorary member.

• Gaile Robinson

As an art and design critic in Fort Worth, Robinson has steadfastly promoted the value of architecture to the community through coverage of the profession. She leads her readers on insightful architectural explorations and offers a window into the making of the city through her thoughtful words and images.
