Sera Dining & Wine, a neighborhood tapas and wine concept, is set for an early fall opening in the same space as the former Sapristi! Bistro and Wine Bar in the Forest Park area of Fort Worth. Former Sapristi! general manager John Marsh and sous chef Brandon Hudson are returning to the new restaurant, located at 2418 Forest Park Blvd. Marsh has hired Hudson to serve as executive chef. Hudson most recently served as sous chef at SMOKE in Dallas. He also has studied under Michelin-rated chefs in Spain.

“Brandon and I have been talking about working together again for a few years now,” Marsh said. “After 30 years in the business, to be opening Sera, and doing it with Brandon in this space, it feels like I’m coming home.” The name “Sera” comes from Latin origin, meaning “it will be.” Featuring a Coastal French-Spanish influence, the restaurant will offer shareable small, medium and large plates, with dishes ranging from $6 to $32. Items on the menu will change seasonally, as they will be made from locally sourced produce as much as possible. Some of the dishes may include: Crispy Whole Sardines with Meyer Lemon Aioli, Hen of the Woods Mushroom with Quail Egg & Morcilla Sausage, and Slow-Cooked Suckling Pig with Quinoa & Herbs. Guests can also expect to see lots of seafood and a regularly changing vegetarian dish as well as a specialty wine list that will be focused exclusively on Spanish and French wines paired with the menu. “I’m thrilled to be back home cooking in Fort Worth again,” Hudson said. “And even better, I’ll be making the food I’m most passionate about.”

The updated 3,456 square-foot space will showcase a modern Mediterranean feel, with seating for 130 guests, including extra bar seating, a private dining area and a few tables for dining al fresco. Marsha said the restaurant will bring about 15 new jobs to the local economy, and he will begin hiring this month. Sera will serve dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. as well as “Sunday Suppers” once a month. Sera is located in the Forest Park neighborhood near Texas Christian University and minutes from downtown, the cultural and hospital districts, and the Will Rogers complex.
