Fort Worth ISD Proposed School Closures

Fort Worth ISD’s board of trustees are expected to vote on May 20 on the proposed plan to close 18 elementary, intermediate and middle schools.

If approved, the proposed school closings would be a five-year process beginning with the first closing to begin June 2025 with the final closings taking place in June 2029.

Though Fort Worth ISD said the master plan will improve learning, equitably distribute resources, and support long-term sustainability, adding that the transition would not require funding or a new bond program. Part of the long-term plan to utilize its facilities more efficiently.

There are some parents asking for the FWISD to reconsider some of the schools that are on the list. The list has been dwindled down from the original 25 proposed schools down to 18.
