COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — A professor of chemical engineering and director of the Texas A&M University Energy Institute has died while on vacation with his family in Greece.
A Texas A&M statement says Christodoulos “Chris” Floudas died Sunday of an apparent heart attack. He was 56.
A&M spokesman Lane Stephenson on Monday had no immediate additional information on the death. The A&M statement says a funeral was planned Wednesday in Greece. A memorial service for Floudas was to be scheduled later on campus in College Station.
Floudas was a chemical engineering expert who joined A&M in 2015 after 29 years of teaching at Princeton. His research addressed fundamental problems on multi-scale systems engineering for energy, environment and health.
