Another earthquake for Azle

RENO, Texas (AP) — North Texas has had another minor earthquake in an area where concerns about unexplained quakes led a state regulatory agency to hire a seismologist.

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded a 3.1 magnitude earthquake at 11:40 a.m. CST Monday. The epicenter was in the town of Reno, about 20 miles northwest of Fort Worth.

The Parker County Sheriff’s Office had no immediate reports of damage or injuries from Monday’s quake. It’s the latest in an area that has had more than 20 earthquakes since November.

The Texas Railroad Commission on Jan. 7 announced the hiring of a seismologist to help determine what’s causing the quakes. The area has had significant oil and gas drilling — an industry regulated by the commission
