Lee Graham Reporter The city of Fort Worth is expected to ratify its lawsuit against Chesapeake Operating Inc. and Total E&P (USA) Inc. that alleges improper cost deductions for production services, among other charges. The issue is up for vote at this week’s regular council meeting. Pre-council begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday Oct. 22, with the regular meeting starting at 10 a.m. at City Hall, 1000 Throckmorton St. Representing Fort Worth in the suit is Ralph Duggins, a partner with Cantey Hanger LLP. The move comes two months after the city of Arlington sued Oklahoma City-based Chesapeake as it seeks more than $1 million in damages. Meanwhile, Fort Worth hopes to win damages for royalties due, as well as financial compensation of legal fees stemming from the lawsuit. Total E&P is listed in the suit because the French energy company owns some of Chesapeake’s former Barnett Shale holdings. Similar claims were made in a federal lawsuit filed earlier this year against Chesapeake by Fort Worth developer Ed Bass and Trinity Valley School, among other landowners.
