FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — A former XTO Energy employee has been sentenced to more than five years in prison for oil and gas mail fraud.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports (http://bit.ly/1PDgmKQ ) that 33-year-old Steven E. Fisackerly was also ordered to pay $1 million in restitution after defrauding XTO Energy when he worked at its Fort Worth offices.
Court documents say Fisackerly generated bogus oil and gas leases, which eventually led to him receiving $130,000 from XTO Energy through another party. The documents do not name the person who issued the checks.
XTO also issued Fisackerly nine fraudulent transactions totaling more than $1 million after he created a bogus West Virginia company in September 2010.
Fisackerly pleaded guilty to one count mail fraud in May. He will enter federal prison Jan. 4.
