The city of Fort Worth has won Best Public Sector honors at the Ninth Annual Working for Clean Air Awards.
Sponsored by the North Texas Commission and held Nov. 7 at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, the annual program recognizes organizations in the region that demonstrate outstanding efforts to improve local air quality. Taking honors as Best Public Sector Over 1,000 Employees was the city of Fort Worth, with the North Central Texas Council of Governments awarded that designation for an agency with fewer than 1,000 employees.
Taking top honors as North Texas Clean Air Champion was Peterbilt Motors Co., with The University of Texas at Arlington named Best University; Texas Instruments, Most Innovative; the city of Richardson, Best Large Fleet; TXU Energy, Best Small Fleet; Internal Revenue Service, Best Commuter Initiatives; and UT Southwestern Medical Center and Southern Methodist University tied for Best Business Operations.
