FTS International Inc. has received the Preferred Technology Award for Excellence in Well Completion at the 2013 Northeast Oil & Gas Awards.

The company was given the honor at the March 20 awards ceremony in Pittsburgh. The event demonstrates advances in environmental stewardship, efficiency, innovation and other aspects of the energy industry.

FTS’ entry featured information about its dual, fuel-powered pressure pumping equipment, as well as the company’s focus on safety in research and development.

“Using dual fuel technology allows us to substitute approximately 65 percent of the diesel used to operate our pressure pumping engines with clean burning, lower-cost natural gas,” said CEO Greg Lanham in a news release.

That provides environmental and economic benefits, Lanham said.

“With this equipment, as well as with the innovations we develop through our Corporate Technology Center, FTSI’s goal is to increase efficiencies for our customers while ensuring the safety and reliability they expect from us,” Lanham said.

The company’s award application also featured information about its commitment to support the communities where its employees work and live through corporate philanthropy and community involvement.

Last year, FTS was honored by The Challenge Program Inc. in Pennsylvania with the organization’s Crystal Owl Award for business partner of the year. The program works with local businesses to help motivate high school students to succeed in school.
