Range Resources leader receives ‘roughneck’ award

Jeffrey L. Ventura, president and chief executive officer of Fort Worth-based Range Resources Corp., is the recipient of the 2014 Chief Roughneck Award, one of the energy industry’s highest honors. U. S. Steel Tubular Products presented the award to Ventura on Nov. 13 at the 85th annual meeting of the Independent Petroleum Association of America. The award has been presented at IPAA’s annual meeting since 1955 and is a lifetime achievement recognition from industry peers based on an individual’s lifetime contributions to the oil and gas industry, leadership, integrity, individual character and perseverance.

“So much has changed since I joined Range in 2003, but one thing has remained the same is the importance of the team-first approach that we all share. It’s not about individuals at Range. It’s about our people and the culture that we have collectively fostered,” Ventura said. Ventura joined Range Resources in 2003 as chief operating officer, became a director in 2005 and was named CEO effective Jan. 1, 2012. Prior to joining Range, he served as president and chief operating officer of Matador Petroleum Corp.

Before joining Matador in 1997, Ventura spent eight years at Maxus Energy Corp., where he managed various engineering, exploration and development operations and was responsible for coordination of engineering technology. Prior to his time at Maxus, Ventura was with Tenneco Oil Exploration and Production, where he had various engineering and operating positions. Ventura earned a bachelor’s degree in petroleum and natural gas engineering from Pennsylvania State University. Range Resources Corp. is a leading independent oil and natural gas producer with operations focused in Appalachia and the Midcontinent region of the United States. The company pursues an organic growth strategy targeting high return, low-cost projects within its inventory of low risk, development drilling opportunities. Range Resources trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol RRC. More information about Range can be found at rangeresources.com
