IRVING, Texas (AP) — Retail gasoline prices across Texas have risen slightly as drivers take to the roads for the holiday season. AAA Texas on Monday reported the average statewide price at the pump for regular unleaded is $3.05, up from $3.03 late last week. Nationwide gasoline prices rose 4 cents to $3.25 per gallon. The association survey found that drivers in Amarillo are paying the least at $2.89 while those in Texarkana are paying the most at $3.10. The association says the reason for the increase statewide and nationally is the greater demand for fuel heading into the year-end travel period. AAA Texas projects 7.9 million Texans will travel 50 miles or more away from home during the holidays. Nine out of 10 of those travelers will go by automobile.
