Thousands lose power in North Texas storms

DALLAS (AP) — Thousands of homes and businesses have lost power as storms soaked parts of North Texas and led to an apparent lightning strike that set an oil well site on fire.

No injuries were reported Monday in the fire in the Longview area, about 120 miles southeast of Dallas. More than 30 nearby homes and businesses were briefly evacuated, as a precaution.

Longview Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary says the well site fire, which was under control about two hours after starting, apparently was sparked by lightning.
