D.G. “Jerry” Wascom is expected to be appointed president of Exxon Mobil Refining and Supply Co., according to Irving-based Exxon Mobil Corp.
Wascom, 58, currently the company’s director of refining for North America, also is expected to be elected as a vice president of the corporation effective Aug. 1, 2014.
A date for the promotion and election was not specified.
Wascom began his career in 1979 as a refining engineer at Exxon Co. USA’s Baton Rouge refinery in Louisiana. He has held several engineering and supervisory positions at the company’s Houston headquarters, later serving as technical manager and process manager at the Baytown refinery in the Houston area.
In 1996, he became senior environmental and safety adviser before serving as corporate planning consultant at Exxon Corp. in Irving. Following an assignment in Singapore as refinery executive for the Far East, he served as Beaumont refinery manager in 2000.
Four years later, Wascom became global logistics and optimization manager, Supply & Transportation, Exxon Mobil Refining and Supply Co. After serving as vice president of Industrial and Wholesale for Exxon Mobil Fuels Marketing Co. in 2005, Wascom moved to Tokyo and was appointed president of Exxon Mobil companies in Japan and refining director for the Asia Pacific region the following year.
He was appointed director of refining for the Americas in 2009.
