Fort Works Arts is hosting the first Texas showing of paper artist Crystal Wagner, along with paper work arts from selected local artists at its gallery at 2100 Montgomery St. May 24-June 24.
The exhibition, titled Tropism, is a solo show featuring a colorful array of new large-format, multi-layer screen prints along with a selection of her signature shadow boxes displaying her trademark cut paper sculptures, Fort Works Art said in a news release.
Tropism describes the reaction of an organism to outside stimulus, such as a flower turning toward the sun.
Wagner is an interdisciplinary artist, beginning her career as a printmaker, and her works have been extensively in the U.S and abroad, including in the United Arab Emirates, Poland and the United Kingdom.
The Fort Works Art show will also include a specially curated secondary exhibition, Paper Works, which will include a variety of works from a number of talented local artists working in the medium of paper.
