Annual Cigar Smoker Benefits FW library

The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation’s biggest fundraiser, its annual Cigar Smoker, will be on May 1 from 6-9:30 pm at the Fort Worth Club in downtown. Proceeds provide the funds to enhance programs focused on literacy and learning for children, families and adults.

In 1901, at the suggestion of philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, a group of Fort Worth women asked local men to donate “the price of a good cigar” to help raise money to build a library and bring literature to the city. This year’s fundraiser marks the 22nd annual smoker.
