Cowboys LB Holloman has career-ending neck injury

IRVING, Texas (AP) — Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeVonte Holloman has what coach Jason Garrett describes as a career-ending neck injury.

Garrett said Thursday that Holloman has been dealing with a neck issue for a couple of weeks. The linebacker played in Saturday’s preseason game against Baltimore, but came out midway through the fourth quarter.

Holloman was evaluated this week by doctors in San Antonio, and other doctors as well.

As a rookie last season, after being a sixth-round draft pick out of South Carolina, Holloman missed seven games because of a spinal contusion. He started the last two games at middle linebacker and led the team with 11 tackles in the finale against Philadelphia.
