FORT WORTH—-The Kimbell Art Museum presents a free encore screening of “The Impressionists and the Man Who Made Them” (2011, 60 min.) at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, in the Kahn Auditorium. No reservations are required. Admission is free.
In 1886, the French dealer Paul Durand-Ruel exhibited almost 300 Impressionist paintings in New York, introducing enlightened Americans to modern French painting. In doing so, he not only filled great American collections with Impressionist masterworks, but kept Impressionism alive at a time when it faced complete failure. This energetic film tells his remarkable story along with that of the Impressionists themselves.
