Eryon Barnett, former Euless football star, dead at 24

BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) – An autopsy has determined that the July 4 death of former Euless Trinity and University of Texas football player Eryon Barnett was caused by complications from pancreatitis, or inflammation of the pancreas.

Barnett, who was 24, died in Bozeman, Montana, where he had been hospitalized for a recent flare-up of the chronic illness.

Barnett played three seasons at Montana State after transferring from Texas in 2012. He missed two games last November due to pancreatitis. MSU coach Rob Ash said Barnett had been battling pancreatitis over the past 18 months.

Ash called Barnett’s death devastating.
