“MAKE ME FAMOUS”: Fort Worth Premiere May 1st

MAKE ME FAMOUS: a documentary by Brian Vincent
Indie hit 80s art documentary, MAKE ME FAMOUS, is breaking the boundaries of
independent film with an extended almost 2 year release window exclusive to cinemas.
Now the #3 top grossing Art documentary of 2023 limited release films, Make Me
Famous is set for a special event screening at the Modern Art Museum Fort Worth May
1st at 6:30.
Director Brian Vincent says: “NYC in the 1980s was a time when artists were inspired
to make their own rules and not wait for the elites to choose them. MAKE ME FAMOUS
becomes a unique opportunity to experience the thrill and heartbreak of chasing fame in
the 1980s through the lens of a striving artist.”
Fort Worth native Heather Spore (Producer) was raised in Keller and attended Texas
Wesleyan University. Spore started her career in the TX theater scene with roles at Casa
Mañana, Stage West, Circle Theater and Theater Arlington. She re-located to NYC and
landed roles in the off-Broadway production of The Fantasticks and Wicked Broadway as
the understudy to Glinda.
Artist Edward Brezinski worked alongside Keith Haring, David Wojnarowicz, and Jean-Michel Basquiat in the 1980s Lower East Side art scene, but never reached the same level
of success as his contemporaries. MAKE ME FAMOUS uncovers why such a well connected yet peculiar painter never made it, despite being so maniacally focused in his
quest for fame.
What begins as an investigation into Brezinski’s legacy and mysterious disappearance
becomes a sharp, witty portrait of NYC’s 1980s downtown art scene. Gallery owners and
fellow artists dish on insider gossip, name drop, and contradict each other in telling the
story, resulting in an irresistible snapshot of an unknown artist that captures the spirit of
an iconic era.
