KIRKLAND, Wash. (AP) — A man who was in a van that crashed on Interstate 405 has been rescued along with a dog and four of her puppies.

KOMO-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2b896nL) the driver went to the hospital with minor injuries.

Trooper Anna Gasser says the van and a trailer it was pulling crossed a barrier early Saturday and rolled down a hill.

Drivers stopped to help troopers who were trying to round up the dogs.

Gasser said people love puppies and that drivers may swerve to dodge dogs that end up in the roadway.

One dog was found dead.

The mother dog and puppies were taken to a veterinarian.
