The PBR Finals returned to North Texas last week with the 2024 Professional Bull Riders event unveiling a new format that features the iconic venue where it all began.
The 2024 Finals, subtitled Unleash the Beast, brings together neighboring cities Fort Worth and Arlington in a three-phase, tournament-style competition with the Fort Worth phases (Eliminations, May 9-12 and Ride For Redemption, May 15-16) being held at Cowtown Coliseum in the Stockyards, where the original PBR event was held in 1993.
“Without question, bull riding is in the DNA of Fort Worth,” said Jason Sands, executive director of the Fort Worth Sports Commission, during a pre-tournament news conference at the coliseum. “It’s a special moment when a sport is able to bring their biggest event back to its roots and that’s what’s going to happen here this weekend at the Cowtown Coliseum.”
The championship rounds (May 18-19) will be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Competitors will be vying for a record $3.13 million in prize money.
“It starts here, on this hallowed dirt in the Cowtown Coliseum, where the top bull riders in the world are going to have to prove it to move on,” said PBR Chief Executive Officer and Commissioner Sean Gleason.
Following the competition in Fort Worth, the survivors of the first six rounds will comprise the 25-rider field that will advance to the championship rounds at AT&T Stadium where the 2024 PBR World Champion and YETI World Champion Bull will be crowned.
Tickets for all phases of the competition and also for the May 17 Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo at AT&T Stadium are available online. Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo, produced by PBR in partnership with Kid Rock, will feature Kid Rock live in concert and six rodeo teams competing in a bracket-style competition for a $1 million purse.
Fans not attending the PBR tournament in person can take advantage of extensive TV coverage. CBS Sports Network (CBSSN) will broadcast every round of the PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast Eliminations and Championship. CBS Television Network will bring viewers one highlight special from the Championship, and PBR RidePass on PlutoTV will cover Ride For Redemption live.
