ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – Texas Rangers left fielder Ryan Rua has a small fracture in his right heel, and right-handed reliever Lisalverto Bonilla is scheduled for season-ending elbow surgery.
Rua got his diagnosis during an exam Monday, three days after he came out of the team’s home opener with what was called a sprained ankle. He will be in a protective walking boot for three weeks because of what the team now says is a small displaced fracture in his heel.
Bonilla will have Tommy John surgery Friday. The surgery will be performed by team physician Dr. Keith Meister.
Bonilla opened the season on the 15-day disabled list and was transferred to the 60-day DL on Saturday.
