Two years into a six-year commitment, Dean & DeLuca may be ending its sponsorship of the Colonial PGA tournament in Fort Worth.
According to reports from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the specialty food retailer has told officials at Colonial Country Club that it may not meet its financial obligations for the 2018 edition of the event.
Colonial’s club president has sent a letter to members saying the club will meet with Dean & DeLuca to discuss renegotiating the contract, but the club expects to seek another sponsor.
The tournament was already facing some challenges as the 2019 PGA tournament calendar was already likely to push the tournament – typically held in late May – to a new date. The PGA Tournament is shifting from August to late May in 2019, according to the PGA.
