With the Big 12 releasing its conference schedule Tuesday, TCU football’s 2016 slate has been finalized.

The Horned Frogs will have seven home games with a total of 10 contests in Texas. TCU will leave the state just twice in the regular season and not until Oct. 8 at Kansas.

A Sept. 10 home game versus Arkansas is part of a 13-year run in which TCU will have at least one non-conference game against a Power 5 opponent.

The Horned Frogs open the 2016 campaign Sept. 3 versus South Dakota State. It’s part of a stretch that has TCU beginning the season with three straight home games, before its final non-conference date Sept. 24 at SMU.

Big 12 schedule not back-loaded for top teams in 2016

IRVING, Texas (AP) — The Big 12 released its 2016 conference schedule Tuesday and there are notable differences in when some of the top teams play each other.

This season, No. 5 Oklahoma, No. 7 Baylor, No. 9 Oklahoma State and No. 15 TCU played all of their head-to-head matchups in November.

Next season, Oklahoma State plays at Baylor on Sept. 24.

Oklahoma has its top games spread over three different months. The Sooners are at TCU on Oct. 1, with home games against Baylor on Nov. 12 and Oklahoma State on Dec. 3. Baylor is the only team that plays back-to-back against the league’s current Top 25 teams. The Bears play TCU before going to Oklahoma.
