TCU-Kansas Preview

🕐 2 min read

The Associated Press

No. 5 TCU (8-1, 5-1 Big 12, CFP No. 4) at Kansas (3-6, 1-5), 3 p.m. EST (Fox Sports 1)

Line: TCU by 28.

Series Record: TCU leads 18-8-4.

WHAT’S AT STAKE

The Horned Frogs are tied for the Big 12 lead and would be among the four teams in the College Football Playoff if the season ended this week. Unfortunately for TCU, there’s a lot of football left to play. And with no marquee opponents in its final three games, it may take some lopsided victories to hold onto that potential playoff slot. Meanwhile, Kansas will be trying to build on a victory over Iowa State, its first under interim coach Clint Bowen.

KEY MATCHUP

TCU dual-threat QB Trevone Boykin against the Kansas defense. Boykin shredded one of the best defenses in the Big 12 in Kansas State a week ago. Now, he’ll try to do the same against a Jayhawks defense that gave up 60 points to Baylor a couple of weeks ago.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

TCU: RB Aaron Green filled in admirably last week for B.J. Catalon, the Horned Frogs’ injured leading rusher. Green ran for 171 yards and a touchdown against the Wildcats.

Kansas: QB Michael Cummings threw for 278 yards and a touchdown without an interception against the Cyclones. He’s been getting steadily better after taking over for Montell Cozart.
