Contrary to reports that found their way onto social media and various media websites, TCU’s star receiver Josh Doctson is NOT out for the season and might play Saturday against Kansas despite the left wrist injury he suffered in the Horned Frogs’ loss to Oklahoma State.
The school said Thursday that coach Gary Patterson’s comments about Doctson during an interview with SiriusXMCollege were misinterpreted as a declaration that Doctson’s injury had sidelined him for the rest of the season. Patterson was actually talking about TCU being without the senior receiver after this season.
Patterson earlier this week described Doctson as “probable,” while also indicating he could be held out or limited as a precaution in a game when the Frogs are six-touchdown favorites against winless Kansas.
TCU (8-1) also still has games left against Oklahoma and Baylor.
Players fell on Doctson’s arm after he made a catch in TCU’s 49-29 defeat last Saturday.
Doctson has been one of the best receivers in the country this season. He is second in the nation in yards per game (146.1), third in receptions per game (8.7) and has 14 touchdowns.
