A Texas Tech win would avenge an 82-27 loss at TCU last year. It would also match all the Red Raiders’ victories last year and likely earn them a ranking for the first time since 2013. TCU, defending Big 12 co-champion, looks to extend its winning streak to 12 games. The Horned Frogs, who are facing one of the league’s most prolific offenses, will be without several defensive players because of injuries.

KEY MATCHUP

TCU QB Trevone Boykin against Texas Tech’s defensive backs, who have just one senior. Boykin, a senior and Heisman hopeful, has thrown for 10 touchdowns and 985 yards. The Red Raiders secondary, under defensive coordinator David Gibbs, has three interceptions this season, which is half of what they got all last season. They’ll go against TCU’s fast-paced scheme, which they see in practice each week.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

TCU: DE Josh Carraway, among the few healthy veteran defenders for TCU, had a career-best game with six tackles and three tackles for losses, including 2 1/2 sacks, against SMU. He had only two sacks all last season.

TEXAS TECH: DB Jah’Shawn Johnson, named Big 12 defensive player of the week after his career-high 16 tackles at Arkansas. Johnson sealed Texas Tech’s win over the Razorbacks with a forced fumble late in the game that he recovered. He leads the Big 12 with two fumble recoveries.
