Texas Wesleyan announces 2019 football schedule

🕐 2 min read

This is Texas, so there is never a wrong time to talk football, even if the fall kickoff is still over six months away.

The Texas Wesleyan Rams and their faithful are certainly excited about what the 2019 football season might hold, the team’s third since returning from a sabbatical of 76 years.

And so, they have released their 2019 schedule.

“We are having a great offseason. That, coupled with a strong recruiting class, bodes very well for the Rams in 2019,” Head Coach Joe Prud’homme said.

In their inaugural season back, the Rams struggled, with their lone victory in a 1-10 season coming via forfeit. Last season, however, the Rams improved to 2-8, with both wins on the field at their home stadium, Farrington Field. Their first official win was 36-7 over Texas College on Sept. 15, coupled with a thrilling come-from-behind 21-20 win over Lyon College on the first homecoming weekend since 1941.

In addition, the Rams came within one possession of three more possible victories and scored at least 25 points in seven games.

Your first chance to see the Rams at home this season is Saturday, Aug. 24, in a scrimmage against Southwestern University. The regular season home opener is Saturday, Oct. 5, against Southwestern Assemblies of God.

Three of the Rams’ final four games will also be at home at Farrington Field, including homecoming on Oct. 19 vs. Texas College. The season finale is set for Nov. 9 vs. Wayland Baptist. All games will be on Saturdays.

In all, the Rams will play six road games and four home contests. They will start the season with four consecutive games on the road.
