War dog reunited with handler 6 years after serving together

SEATAC, Wash. (AP) — A Washington state sheriff’s deputy has been reunited with the bomb-sniffing dog he served with six years ago in Afghanistan.

An excited Mike Lamon hugged the retired war dog, Adam, at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Friday and brought him home.

The two worked side by side for nine months while working on a bomb team that oversaw entry and exit points for vehicles and people in Afghanistan.

KING-TV reports (http://goo.gl/x6B7Gd ) that after serving overseas, Lamon returned to Wenatchee, where he is currently a Chelan County sheriff’s deputy.

The reunion was made possible by Mission K9 Rescue and a $150,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to the U.S. War Dogs Association.
