The rattlesnakes are rattling, elephants are shaking the ground dancing and the giraffes are high-fiving today at the Fort Worth Zoo which has just been named the No. 4 zoo in the country according to USA Today’s 10 Best Zoos survey.
The Fort Worth Zoo is the only Texas zoo to crawl into the top 10.
USA Today assembled a panel of industry experts who created a list of zoos it deemed the top 20 in the nation. The newspaper then opened the voting, asking the public to choose the top 10. Voters could vote once a day, every day for four weeks until the contest closed on Monday, March 27. The final ranking was revealed Friday, March 31.
“Thank you for casting your votes and putting a national spotlight on the Fort Worth Zoo,” said Michael Fouraker, Fort Worth Zoo executive director. “It is the work of our dedicated staff and the support from our loyal visitors and friends that make the Fort Worth Zoo truly special.”
This is the latest honor for the nationally recognized zoo, which has been ranked the Best Zoo in Texas by Yahoo Travel and the No. 1 attraction in the DFW Metroplex by Zagat survey.
