This Saturday, Sept. 9, you and your friends and family can participate in the Tarrant County Heart Walk at the Will Rogers Memorial Center for free from 8-11 a.m.

The walk is “designed to promote physical activity and heart-healthy living, creating an environment that’s fun and rewarding for the entire family as we raise funds to save lives from this country’s No. 1 and No. 5. killers – heart disease and stroke,” the website reads.

Last year walkers raised over $1.1 million in support of the American Heart Association’s lifesaving mission.

“Let’s keep the momentum going at the 2017 Tarrant County Heart Walk,” the website says. “Together we can put an end to heart disease – one step at a time.”

For more information contact the Heart Walk Care Team at 1-866-430-9255.

Participants have the option of walking a 5K or a 3.1 mile walk.

The American Heart Association’s goal this year is to raise $1.3 million and they have already raised over $900,000.

In addition to raising money by walking, participants can also help raise money by taking a Lyft to the event.

“Avoid having to find that perfect parking spot this year, and take a Lyft ride to the Heart Walk on Sept. 9th! And, the best part? Lyft is donating $10 from every ride that day to the American Heart Association,” the website reads. “By choosing Lyft instead of driving, you will be helping us raise even more critical funds for heart disease and stroke!”
