Fort Worth City Council on Tuesday approved the acquisition of 11.41 acres of land for $2.99 million for the creation of Paloma Park in northwest Fort Worth.
The land, which features a gently rolling landscape that is lightly forested, is at 5610 Ten Mile Bridge.
Part of the land acquisition from Hayco Realty Ltd. includes an in-kind donation of 3.8 acres valued at nearly $1.5 million.
The parkland will be managed by the Park & Recreation Department in accordance with the Neighborhood and Community Park Dedication Policy and the Park, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan, which calls for providing adequate park and recreational areas in the form of neighborhood-based parks and community-based parks.
PARD assessed potential properties in northwest Fort Worth for parkland acquisition. The newly purchased property is located in Council District 2 in Park Planning District 2, which is underserved in neighborhood-based parkland.
