David Cooke receives Lifetime Achievement Award from state association

Former Fort Worth City Manager David Cooke has been named a Lifetime Achievement Award recipient by the Texas City Management Association (TCMA). The award will be presented at the TCMA Annual Conference Awards Luncheon on Friday, June 20, at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio.

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes city management professionals who make significant contributions to the field of local government management for more than 20 years. Cooke is one of three recipients along with Joey Dunn, deputy city manager, City of Bryan; and Brad Stafford, Parks, Recreation and Facilities director for the City of Bryan.

As the city manager of the City of Fort Worth, Cooke has played a pivotal role in building and sustaining the organization as it has grown to the 11th largest city in the nation. Serving as city manager for two mayors, he has also been instrumental in managing the City during the COVID-19 pandemic, creating various partnerships along the way, and providing a roadmap for employees to follow. This award shows the respect he has earned from not only the people who work with him, but also from his peers.

TCMA is an organization of local government professionals dedicated to promoting the highest standards of governance, service, leadership, ethics and education while embracing individual and regional diversity for the benefit of membership and the cities of Texas.
