United Way of Tarrant County (UWTC) is helping students start the
school year strong with a day of action focused on back-to-school preparedness. Fort Worth ISD families are
invited to a free community resource fair, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 2, at Artes de la Rosa, 1440 N. Main
Street, Fort Worth.
The event will have activities and resources for students of all ages. Those who complete at least two activity
stations can earn a free backpack filled with school supplies. Activities include visits with Fort Worth first
responders, art and reading.
“Every year, United Way of Tarrant County hosts a Day of Action to support community needs,” said UWTC
President and CEO Adam Powell. “Understanding that many families in our community may have difficulty
affording back-to-school supplies, we decided to host this resource fair. However, it’s more than just giving
away free supplies. Our focus is on providing families with resources to help them thrive. When students are
excited and prepared, the whole community benefits.”
The community resource fair is part of UWTC’s commitment to education and youth opportunity, breaking
down barriers to learning and opening pathways for student success.
