Who doesn’t like a good ol’ fashioned float, ice cream and your favorite beverage?
Fred’s Texas Cafe now has that legendary treat, featuring four timeless flavors, Coke, Big Red, Dr Pepper and, of course, root beer.
And if something a little stronger is to your liking – providing you’re an adult – well, they can provide that also.
“Everybody loves floats and has good childhood memories about them,” said Quincy Wallace, Fred’s CEO and co-owner. “With our alcoholic and non-alcoholic selection, there’s an option for everyone.
“And, we’re always looking to add a twist to a classic. The idea is to make a drink that’s a memorable experience and feels a little nostalgic.”
The new floats are also featured in three signature styles:
1. Texas ‘X’. A Dr Pepper float topped with candied bacon, sweetened with Dr Pepper syrup, brown sugar, and guajillo spice. Add a test tube shot of Stoli vanilla vodka for $2.50.
2. Big Red Berry. This float comes packed with strawberries and blackberries, with the option to add a shot of Malibu coconut rum for $2.50.
3. Elvis Presley. A root beer float enhanced with peanut butter and banana flavors. A Screwball peanut butter whiskey floater can be added for $2.50.
“People have been loving them!” Wallace said. “When they show up at a table, people immediately pay attention and start asking questions – we love creating items with that reaction. They’re perfect for sharing and we’ve enjoyed seeing families come in and share a couple of different flavors.”
Wallace noted these are fun drinks to have with a classic Fredburger or your favorite Fred’s dish, not as a dessert.
“It’s all about the fun combo of a float and delicious diner food, a tried and true Texas pairing,” he said.
