This Valentine’s season, the James L. West Senior Day Program is honoring enduring love in a deeply meaningful way. The Program will host a Valentine’s Family Night and Vow Renewal celebration for couples navigating life with dementia. The evening will transform the Senior Day Program into a wedding-style setting, complete with elegant décor, a donated wedding cake, and a catered dinner shared with family and loved ones.
Participants living with dementia will have the opportunity to renew their vows with their spouses in a supportive, dignity-centered environment designed especially for them.
For many families, dementia changes daily routines and communication. It does not erase love or lifelong bonds. This event is designed to focus on what remains—connection, commitment, and shared joy. Love does not disappear when memory changes. This evening gives couples a chance to reconnect emotionally, be celebrated as partners, and create a moment of joy that meets them exactly where they are.
Our Senior Day Program at James L. West supports individuals in the early to middle stages of dementia while providing much-needed daytime respite for caregivers. Programs are intentionally designed to nurture emotional, social, and spiritual well-being alongside physical care.
The Valentine’s vow renewal offers a powerful visual and emotional reminder that people living with dementia continue to experience love, belonging, and meaningful relationships. For families, it is an opportunity to pause, celebrate, and witness a moment that feels hopeful and affirming.
