Methodist Justice Ministry Stands Firm Amid Cuts to Survivor Resources

As Domestic Violence Awareness Month comes to a close, Methodist Justice Ministry (MJM) is highlighting a growing crisis: the shrinking support network for survivors of domestic violence. While many traditional resources are being reduced or eliminated, MJM remains a steadfast provider of free legal representation and wraparound services for those seeking safety and stability. With numerous local programs facing funding cuts, survivors are encountering greater barriers to justice and long-term well-being. Supported primarily by private grants and individual donors, MJM has remained resilient amid widespread reductions affecting domestic violence, mental health, and legal aid programs nationwide.

Since its founding in 2006, MJM has delivered essential family law services—including protective orders, custody, and divorce—to low-income individuals impacted by family violence, child abuse, and neglect. “Fewer options shouldn’t mean fewer chances for protection,” said Aaryn Landers Lamb, Executive Director of MJM. “When other resources are pulled back, the need for advocacy and justice doesn’t disappear—it grows. Our team remains committed to walking alongside survivors to ensure they are not alone in this process.”

As MJM prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary in January 2026, the organization reaffirms its unwavering commitment to safeguarding vulnerable families and strengthening the Tarrant and Johnson County communities. Throughout October, MJM expanded its outreach—hosting collaborative discussions with community partners, distributing educational materials, and sharing the rising demand for services with supporters. Each effort reflects MJM’s ongoing dedication to empowering families in crisis to rebuild their lives. “Our mission has always been one of hope, protection, and support,” Lamb added. “For every survivor who reaches out, MJM is here—today, tomorrow, and for as long as we are needed.” To learn more or make a contribution to MJM’s mission, visit www.methodistjusticeministry.org
