Amazon’s donation will provide 375,000 Meals to Homebound Neighbors through Innovative Home Delivery Program
Recently, the Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) and Amazon showcased their innovative partnership to alleviate hunger, especially during the holiday season. The event, held at TAFB’s headquarters, celebrated Amazon’s $75,000 donation to TAFB’s Home Delivery program, which will provide 375,000 meals to homebound and disabled neighbors facing food insecurity.
The Home Delivery program utilizes Amazon’s delivery network to distribute meals and supplies from TAFB to neighbors who are homebound or disabled and facing food insecurity. Amazon’s delivery partners are paid for these deliveries just like any other delivery block and the nonprofit and the people receiving the deliveries get the service free of charge. Since 2022, Amazon has helped TAFB deliver over 500,000 meals to neighbors in need.
“We are proud to support Tarrant Area Food Bank in its mission to end hunger and to help deliver meals to families in need, especially during the holidays,” said Vickie Yakunin, Amazon’s head of community engagement in Texas. “By giving during this critical time of year, we can make a profound difference in our communities. In partnership with the Food Bank, we are ensuring that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, can experience the warmth and joy of the season.”
“This holiday season, we are reminded of the power of community and innovation in addressing food insecurity,” said Julie Butner, President and CEO of Tarrant Area Food Bank. “Amazon’s partnership and generosity allow us to reach our most vulnerable neighbors, delivering not only meals but also hope and dignity. Together, we’re ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry.”
The demonstration of the Home Delivery program at the event highlighted how collaboration between food banks like the Tarrant Area Food Bank and corporations can create scalable, sustainable solutions to alleviate hunger. Attendees witnessed Amazon Flexdelivery partners in action, loading and delivering food packages to local homes. This hands-on approach reflects Amazon’s commitment to creating direct and meaningful impact across North Texas.
As food insecurity continues to affect nearly 500,000 residents across TAFB’s 13-county service area, partnerships like this one provide a blueprint for addressing hunger in our community. By combining the operational efficiency of the private sector with the deep community connections of TAFB, innovative solutions can be implemented to ensure that no one goes without a meal this holiday season.
