Texas Christian University has announced its leadership succession plan as the university progresses to its next phase of growth and excellence. On behalf of the TCU Board of Trustees, Chair Kit T. Moncrief has shared that Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr., has formalized his plans to transition to Chancellor Emeritus effective June 1, 2025, and TCU President Daniel W. Pullin has been tapped as his successor.
The Board of Trustees is set to ratify the chancellor succession plan at the spring 2025 meeting of the Board. The plan was set into motion with discussion of the chancellor/president leadership succession in 2020. The hiring of Pullin as president in 2022 set forth the succession plan, allowing for Chancellor Boschini and President Pullin to work side by side for the past two years in preparation for the leadership transition.
“It is almost impossible to find an aspect of campus that has not been positively impacted by Chancellor Boschini’s leadership, vision and heart,” TCU Board of Trustees Chair Kit Moncrief said. “He has helmed TCU’s emergence as one of best universities in the country and has done so with a focus on people. I speak for the board and for Horned Frogs everywhere when I say we are indebted to Victor Boschini’s transformative impact, and we are committed to building upon his legacy to ensure an even greater TCU for the future.”
Boschini’s tenure at chancellor is defined by a legacy of growth, community, inclusion and excellence. His vision is apparent in the beauty and cohesion of TCU’s campus, built to serve the collegiate learning and living environment. During his tenure, Chancellor Boschini and his leadership team doubled the number of TCU students, oversaw incredible athletic success and redefined the student-centered experience.
His focus on leadership development also includes helping usher in a succession plan that allows TCU to continue its trajectory. Pullin is set to become the 11th chancellor of TCU effective June 1, 2025.
“TCU is an incredible place and deserves an incredible leader to take us into the next years of student-centered growth, academic excellence and impact,” Boschini said. “After working closely with him for the past two years, Daniel is uniquely poised to build on the positive momentum we have created here at TCU. He is an inspiring leader with a big vision and his unbounded energy makes him a force of nature. His care for our community, our values and our students is evident and informs his every decision.”
Moncrief said, “We are excited about what TCU’s future holds with Daniel as our next chancellor. He is the very rare leader who is both wildly optimistic and optimally prepared when faced with the complex issues we are seeing in higher education. I saw his leadership in action as he led the university’s strategic planning efforts this last year. His innovative and collaborative approach has helped craft a vision for TCU we can all support.”
Prior to serving as president and spearheading the collaborative development of TCU’s new strategic plan Lead On: Values in Action this past year, Pullin was the John V. Roach Dean of the TCU Neeley School of Business and a professor of entrepreneurship and innovation. He doesn’t just teach the class; his world view and decisions are shaped by innovative thinking and entrepreneurial approaches.
“From the very first moment I stepped onto campus seven years ago, I thought, ‘This place is special,’” Pullin said. “As dean of Neeley and now as president, I’ve said that same thing every day. I’ve been inspired by the thoughtful and intelligent students in my classes, by my generous and bright colleagues as we collaborate on projects large and small, and by our community coming together and collaborating on our shared vision for what comes next,” Pullin said. “It’s a daily honor to work alongside Chancellor Boschini and watch his joyful, kind and respectful brand of leadership that has taken TCU to unprecedented heights.
“As TCU grows into this next frontier, I’m indebted to what Victor has built and inspired and by what I know is possible for this great university. Our goals are to compete on the highest levels of academics, athletics and research, all while maintaining the very aspects of the TCU community and student experience that drew me to this campus years ago.”
During the spring semester, Chancellor Boschini and President Pullin will continue to work together to advance the mission, vision and values of TCU as it embarks on this next chapter. In June 2025 when Pullin becomes chancellor, Boschini will take on the responsibilities and title of Chancellor Emeritus, maintaining a presence on campus to focus on friend-raising, fundraising and enrollment. As is tradition for many TCU leaders, Dr. Boschini will continue to teach students in the classroom.
