Hospital first earned certification in 2022
ALLIANCE, TEXAS, – Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance has once again earned Primary Stroke Center certification* from Joint Commission, offered in collaboration with the American Heart Association.
Having first earned the national certification four years ago, Texas Health Alliance continues to be recognized for its consistent, high-quality neurological care for stroke patients in Northeast Tarrant County and beyond.
“Our hospital serves more than 50,000 patients each year, and families come from North Fort Worth, Haslet, Justin, Roanoke and surrounding areas for high-quality care,” said Tracy Payne Martinez, PT, M.S., HCA, Texas Health Alliance president. “This certification simply confirms that we remain committed to promoting healthy habits. By empowering patients with resources to support their recovery, they can get back to enjoying life.”
Physicians on the Texas Health Alliance medical staff use the advanced diagnostic and treatment technology to diagnose and treat strokes and collaborate with a comprehensive stroke response team to care for patients. The team includes an Emergency Department (ED) physician and neurologist, both on the medical staff of the hospital, ED nurses, EMTs, a CT technologist, a pharmacist, a phlebotomist and lab technicians.
Stroke by the numbers Stroke ranks as the No. 4 cause of death across the U.S., according to the American Heart Association, and in Texas. That’s why Texas Health is committed to supporting the highest level of stroke care across North Texas. Three Texas Health facilities are certified Comprehensive Stroke Centers, and eight more are Primary Stroke Centers, including Texas Health Alliance.
“We provide stroke patients with nationally recognized care as soon as they enter our doors, along with offering ongoing support and rehabilitation after they leave the hospital,”said Ally Peterson, B.S.N., R.N., CMSRN, stroke program coordinator at Texas Health Alliance.
Resources for stroke patients As the coordinator, Peterson develops patient-focused resources that promote successful recoveries and support employees and medical staff physicians in providing exceptional care. “We maintain a strong culture of excellence,” Peterson said. “We are committed to empowering individuals with valuable resources, including comprehensive rehabilitation services and support groups.” Martinez added that the certification also validates the hospital’s commitment to providing critical resources as the community continues to grow. “We work tirelessly to increase stroke awareness and provide high-quality neurological care to North Texans,” Martinez said. “Our ultimate goal is to maintain a lifelong connection with our community.”
The certification encompasses the full spectrum of stroke care: diagnosis, education, rehabilitation and treatment. Hospitals must meet Primary Stroke Center standards, including access to advanced imaging capabilities, an inpatient stroke unit and staff with the specialized education and competencies to care for acute stroke patients.
