Texas Health Fort Worth Earns Commitment to Quality Award for Second Consecutive Year

FORT WORTH, TEXAS, Oct. 16, 2026 – Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth has once again earned the American Heart Association’s Commitment to Quality award for achieving high marks in three or more 2026 Get With The Guidelines® clinical areas. Texas Health Fort Worth is the only facility in Tarrant County to earn the recognition and just one of 222 facilities nationally.

The award is part of the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines program, which recognizes facilities that meet specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke and cardiovascular patients. Texas Health Fort Worth earned the following Get With The Guidelines honors:

  • STEMI Receiving Gold Plus with Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll (for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction care)
  • NSTEMI Gold with Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll (for Non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction care)
  • Heart Failure Gold Plus with Target: Heart Failure Optimal, Target: Type 2 Diabetes
  • Stroke Gold Plus with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus, Target: Advanced Therapy Honor Roll and Target: Type 2 Diabetes
  • North Texas 2026 Regional Mission: Lifeline Award

“Earning the American Heart Association’s Commitment to Quality award for the second year in a row demonstrates our dedication to consistently providing compassionate patient care. It takes a village, too — from the physicians on the medical staff to nurses to each and every hospital employee,” said Jared Shelton, FACHE, Texas Health Fort Worth president. “It’s also another testament to how those dedicated individuals collaborate seamlessly to care for some of the most critical heart and stroke patients.”

Stroke ranks as the No. 4 cause of death in Texas, and some of the highest rates of stroke prevalence are in North Texas.

“Considering those concerning statistics, treatment and rehabilitation both play vital roles in combating this devastating disease,” said Moneeb Ehtesham, M.D., a vascular neurosurgeon and Stroke Program co-medical director on the medical staff at Texas Health Fort Worth.

“Offering patients 24-hour neurocritical care is essential in their survival,” added Ehtesham, who is a member of Texas Health Neurosurgery and Spine Specialists, a Texas Health Physicians Group practice*. “The multidisciplinary care team can immediately manage medical complications affecting other organs, such as the heart and kidneys, that stroke patients sometimes face.”

In fact, Texas Health Fort Worth cares for the highest number of stroke patients** in North Texas. It’s the only Comprehensive Stroke Center in Tarrant County with advanced certification from the Joint Commission. The hospital also has the prestigious Comprehensive Cardiac Center Certification from the Joint Commission.

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the U.S., according to the American Heart Association.
