Alvarado, TX – July 2025 — Thermal Scientific, Inc., a veteran-operated, family-owned distributor of laboratory products, has completed the full integration of General Lab Supply (“GLS”) into its operations. In the midst of this complex transition—bringing together ERP systems, teams, and technologies—Thermal Scientific stayed true to its values by donating over $40,000 in laboratory supplies to the Pasadena Independent School District (PISD).
The donation, made during the integration phase, included PPE, glassware, and hands-on science tools to support classroom learning across the district.
“Even while working behind the scenes to unify our systems and operations, we made time to honor the community that welcomed us,” said Coby Wishert, CEO of Thermal Scientific. “The donation was more than a gesture—it was a statement about our priorities: people, education, and long-term relationships.”
Giving Back During Growth
GLS, founded by Steve Sneed in 1978, served Pasadena and the greater Houston region for nearly 50 years. The partnership between Thermal Scientific and GLS reflects a decades-long connection that began in the 1960s, when Sneed worked as a Mallinckrodt sales rep and Thermal Scientific was one of his clients.
“I’ve known the leaders of Thermal Scientific for generations—starting with founder Wally Willhelm, and now working with his grandchildren,” said Steve Sneed, Founder of GLS. “This integration brings together two companies that have always shared a passion for service, integrity, and community.”
“We wanted the donation to symbolize both continuity and care,” added Jason Anderson, Director of Operations. “GLS has deep roots in Pasadena, and this was our way of honoring that legacy.”
“We’re incredibly grateful for this generous donation,” said Jami Crews, Science Instructional Specialist, PISD Curriculum and Instruction. “During this time of significant budget constraints, Thermal Scientific’s support has replenished some of our resources and will make a real difference in our classrooms.”
